![]() ![]() I like the color in general, it is very accessible and appropriate for the subject matter. Excellent artwork, and in a color palette consistent across media. I am not particularly familiar with the industry or fan-terms for comics or manga.ġ. Please forgive me if I use incorrect terms. This is also my first purchase (I also got Vol. ![]() This is the first "universe" I've gotten into enough to actively seek out additional media. Adventure Time is one of my favorite series, despite usually preferring anime, or western animation for older viewers like King of the Hill or Archer. I'm an adult without kids, but I have loved animation since my own childhood. Original story with themes and characters from the show. Abstract: The comic adaption has much of what made me love the animated version. ![]() ![]() ![]() The book was written in 1935, set a few years before that, and takes place in England. The piebald is an amazing jumper, and eventually Velvet and Mi, her father’s assistant and a close family friend, decide to find a way to enter the piebald into the Grand National race – with Velvet as the rider at a time when only men could be jockeys in that race. She wins a piebald horse in a raffle on the same day that she is bequeathed 5 ponies by an old man she just met. Velvet has a quirky imagination that is tolerated and even supported by the rest of the family. The main character is Velvet Brown, youngest (age 14) daughter of a butcher father and a mother who had famously swum the Channel years before. I recently decided to give it a re-read, and I think it holds up pretty well. I was one of those horse crazy girls – show me a book about a horse and I’d read it. ![]() I remember reading National Velvet multiple times when I was younger. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Stanford-torus habitat they find themselves in suffers from bizarre weather patterns and is populated by fantastic creatures and intelligent lifeforms. The crew is put into stasis and when they awaken, they do so in an alien world. Manned by Cirocco Jones and a motley crew of six, the Ringmaster is ensnared by the tendrils of an alien object on the outer rings of Saturn. The first book, published in 1979, tells the story of what happens to the crew of Ringmaster , a scientific vessel in orbit around Saturn. I happen to like sex in my fiction, so I picked up the books. I chose to read Varley after stumbling on some kindle boards where users were complaining that there was too much sex in his stories. Varley is all about the human drama, characterization and the telling of an unhinged story that makes you go, “hmm.” ![]() ![]() The author doesn’t take himself too seriously nor does he delve too deep into the science behind his science fiction. John Varley’s Gaean Trilogy is as entertaining as it is thought provoking. I wrapped up Wizard by the end of the month while on vacation in Portugal and finished the last book, Demon, just last night. Early January, I picked up John Varley’s Titan starring the ballsy heroine Cirocco Jones and by mid January I was done. One of my New Year’s resolutions was to read more and I’m slowly making good on my promise. ![]() |
